The cool thing about the setup of this show is that power can be based solely on Otome. So in a one episode fight they can spin the downfall of a nation out of it. Before Nagi's invasion we hadn't seen any military power displays at all, and from all the Otome performances so for it's quite likely that the Pillars would have laid the smack down on his little invasion if they could have used their robes.

And what's the deal with Natsuki and Shizuru? After the sad aftermath of HiME's thwarted love are they really connected now? Apparently Natsuki knows when bad things are happening to her woman, and Shizuru is so awesome with her straight face as the disallusioned teen tried to bed her. As if she's not disgusted, just not interested in Tomoe in that way.

Finally Tomoe joins the dark side, I was reminded of Shizuru and Natsuki by that scene. By the looks of things it seems like Chie is infiltrating the Valkries, I expect a battle between her and Tomoe.

Not much actually happened. okay, that's not true. its just that, if this show is 26 eps long... then end is near. and that is pissing me off.
Mashiro is acting like a leader... which is neat. That giant rock monster is finally dead! and what the HELL were Shizuru and Tomoe doing!!?

Heh. That is indeed a good question... Although I'm not all too sure I even want to know.

Hopefully there will be more action in the next episode. In fact compared to Mai-Hime, I think this show is seriously lacking in good fighting. Even the most promising battle between Nina and Arika was cut so short by that nuclear explosion. And now it looks like Arika may only fight against those new prototype otomes, and frankly I don't think they can keep up against Arika for a terribly long time (if Arika really wants to fight, that is).

I don't know what Major Wong is planning, but I would be quite surprised if he indeed tried to eliminate Arika. But considering he already once betrayed Nagi, I don't think the evil genius kid is going to give him much room for new plots.

Aye, it should be an interesting next episode.

I have no idea what Shiho is up to, but the burning giant mosquito repellent spiral is brilliant! I have sometimes wondered what would happen, if you inhaled too much smoke from that thing, and apparently the creators of this story have pondered the very same thing...

I don't feel that the fighting has been lame. the few fighting scenes were fast and short. like it should be. One-sided battles are ok, I personally hate those annoying, i'm stronger/now you're stronger/now i'm stronger battles like in DBZ and several other shounen shows. if they have at least one memorable battle by the end of the show, then it'll be good. An example is Escaflowne, where there aren't that many battles, but the last one, i still remember. but still... I say this again, battle scenes must stay short! like 1-2 minutes, no more.

Why exactly does Nagi even bother keeping Major Wong around? The guy already betrayed him once. And no matter how much they try to change Arika and Mashiro I still don't seem to like them. Aswald broke their rules and are going to share their resources with them and they still refused to help them.

Well, Nina probably remains more cooperative as long as her daddy is also in Nagi's service. That would probably be the only truly logical argument. Although we have to remember Nagi is the kind of fellow who would just love to watch somebody feebly trying to struggle against his plans. It's a game...

This episode certainly had action and some decisive moments. Too bad Arika is so lacking fighting spirit and experience. She fights really poorly considering the potential strenght she should have. Well, maybe in the future episodes.

The cyborgs fared much better than I expected. The impalement scene was really good.
