True and due to my age, apparently it is rare to be diagnosed in the 40s age range. There are a fast and a slow progressing type. Duchenne's being the worst and fastest progressing type, and that is usually diagnosed from 6 months to 10 years of age and me being in my 40s, I think or maybe the doctors believe I have the slow progressing type and it also depends on the subtype and from what I was reading there are 30-50 different sub types.
Even if it is a slow type... I have to be mindful of heart disease, losing lung capacity and my muscles are deteriorating and hoping at a slow rate like the doctors believe and hoping to live a somewhat normal life span albeit in a lot of pain every day.
Just from reading the different types and age of onset, I am hoping I have either Distal DM (MD) or Myotonic. Either one has a somewhat normal life span with just getting weaker. The main focus for me now is to try and stay active with aerobic type exercises and walking 30m minutes a day to try and keep what I have and hope the progression does stay as a slow progression. It should be slow due to me being in my 40s and at least this is the mindset I am going with. Trying to stay positive.
Doctor wants me to go on Gabapentin or Lyrica and after researching both, the side effects scare me. I want to try and go on medical CBD oil if anything because I believe it will be more beneficial. I don't see my doctor until July 2nd. So I will ask then and hope I can go on that instead of those other two.
All I can do is continue to enjoy anime and enjoy the time I have left.
