I'm all for Psyke's contest. I hope the other mods are in agreement. Psyke's idea is the best one I've heard so far!![]()

This fantastic Sousuke sig was made by the one and only Lucifus! Thanks man!
its a pretty good idea....im too high/tired rite now, but tomorrow i guess i'll try to work something out and get back to you guys
Awesome idea. We'll have to decide on whether the item has to simply be in the picture, or that there has to be sufficient focus on the item in question.
If it's not Isuzu-chan Mii~
Not that I don't love the idea, but weren't photography-based contests ruled out before because not everyone had easy access to a camera? Otherwise I think it'd be a really great way for everyone to have fun and be creative.
Edit: Related to that, and keeping it anime-themed, we could also have a picture contest where the players try and recreate a screenshot from an anime using only what they have. Could be something simple and mundane, or it could be a scene from End of Evangelion. Whatever.

<@Terra> he told me this, "man actually meeting terra is so fucking big", and he started crying. Then he bought me hot dogs
Creating a contest for absolutely everybody would be very hard in any case. However, I don't think it's totally unreasonable to assume people readily possess a digital camera in 2008. What's important, I think, is that taking some shots doesn't require any uber skills in special software like creating half decent AMVs, or such.Originally Posted by XanBcoo

"Our hearts are full of memories but not all of them reflect the truth. The heart isn't a recording device. Even important memories change with time. They warp or fade, leaving us with but a shadow of what we hoped to remember." 天の道を行き、全てを司る。これは僕の世界。
If recreating an anime moment was the objective that we should have the freedom to represent any moment we choose, that way no one will have advantage over the other because they have more figurines, posters, etc. We'd simply post our photo plus a screenshot of the said moment in the anime.
Good idea. It doesn't even have to be judged on how close you come to the original alone, but also how creative you do it. Sometimes toothpicks and napkins can beat the appeal of a bunch of figurines when arranged properly.
Peace.

Fair enough, I give. Just trying to make sure that the idea is fleshed out as much as possible, making sure we would not end up with any sort of aspects weighted in the favor of a smaller cross section of the community. The three of you have convinced me.
Ok so far we have:
1) Photography contest (currently in the works - if only some of the mods would give me feedback)
2) Re-create an anime scene (most likely the next contest)

Sorry, only just saw the thread. I've given my input now.Originally Posted by Assassin
I had assumed that there would be a poll in General Discussion, where Gotwoot could vote for its favorite pictures without knowing the artist.4) Judging method/ list of Judges (not really necessary)

at the stage where we all forget about it apparently
Don't lose hope yet. We've still got a few things to sort out:Originally Posted by Assassin
1) items/objects to be used the shot
2) any further requirements for a photo to "pass", such as min size of object, or any themes it has to adhere to. Basically, any other rules regarding image validity.
3) Contest date, submission window, prize.
4) Judging method/ list of Judges (not really necessary)

1 - We should let the mods decide that oneOriginally Posted by Buffalobiian
2 - We should have the liberty to choose anything else besides the said object
3 - As soon as possible, PM Assassin or any other mod with the photo, who cares i'm just doing it for fun
4 - Read above, xan said it perfectly
We'll take care of all that....what i need from you guys is a list of possible prizes. Custom titles only go so far, so i'd like to hear from the general public regarding what would be some suitable prizes.Originally Posted by Buffalobiian
Some cool prizes:
mod powers for a limited time
get to see rep poster IDs for yourself for a limited time
gif avatar or sig
“For God will not permit that we shall know what is to come... those who by some sorcery or by some dream might come to pierce the veil that lies so darkly over all that is before them may serve by just that vision to cause that God should wrench the world from its heading and set it upon another course altogether and then where stands the sorcerer? Where the dreamer and his dream?”
Enlarged sig (I for one want this)
Custom titles (not sure if its a one time thing or if you gain the ability to change it at will, which can be two separate prizes if they are indeed separate)
Peace.
1) hahaha, dream on. people tend act stupid with temporary mod powers.Originally Posted by Animeniax
2) this one is rather interesting, but it would be up to comp.
3) again, need the ok from the viking, but i dont see why not...maybe for a limited time though, so we can use it again for other contests without having multiple people with animated sigs/avas.
An enlarged sig is also good, as well as colored names (though im not sure how many people actually care about that.....maybe we can make it a choice between larger sig or colored name).
