Kamisama Dolls for sure. Good action, greater characters.

Kyoukai Senjou no Horizon - Great animation, confusing storyline (until it suddenly all clicks 6 episodes in), and lots of unique fighting styles. Downside is a great deal of rapid-fire exposition, because the world is pretty detailed and complex. Dozens of characters (not an exaggeration) will be thrown at you in quick succession.

Chrome Shelled Regios if you haven't seen it. Similar problems that Horizon has, but much more straightforward in some spots, less in others. Good animation, great fight sequences.

Macross Frontier [two films] - The condensed movies are a lot better than the original.

REDLINE - [film] - Awesome stylized space-setting racing movie.

Break Blade - [6 OVAs] - Decent adaptation of the mecha manga. Very well animated, okay characters (the manga plays them out a bit differently), good solid action sequences, so-so plot.

Tiger & Bunny - Corporate Sponsored Superheroes. Good animation, well integrated CG, good plot and great characters.

Mardock Scramble [movies] - No idea when the second movie will ever come out, but it's got lots of promise.

Not so great, but I'll throw it in anyway:
Guilty Crown - It's pretty, I'll give it that, and the action is okay. The downside is the story is a complete waste of potential. Just when you think it might be getting good, it throws it away for nonsense to get to the the next set piece of eye candy.

Queen's Blade Rebellion - It's got action, rather high quality animation, and the fights are pretty entertaining. But it is Queen's Blade. It's overwhelmingly fanservice. Probably not to your taste.

Blood-C - Loads of gore, the fights are pretty good and the animation has a nice feel to it, but the 12 episode series should have been only 6 OVAs and nothing would have changed. Lots of filler episodes.

I'm looking for space series - human vs human conflict, preferably no aliens, and with tons of space travel - something that has feel of Cowboy Bebob, preferably more serious than Moretsu Pirates.
Buff recommended me Legend of the Galactic Heroes - and i'll watch it after i get it.

Oh - also i'm looking for cyberpunk series, preferably ones that aired after 1990.

You can't go wrong with Crest of the Stars and its sequels.

Cyberpunk, what about Texhnolyze, Ergo Proxy

There's also a show called Tytania. It's from the makers of Legend of the Galactic Heroes. However, I have a distinct feeling it pissed me off not only a few times, but if you like LoGH, you might have a look at it as well unless the older mammoth series already makes you sick of space opera for a while. However, watch Bud's suggestion, Crest of the Stars, first. You can't go wrong with that one.

Edit: There's also a show called Soukou no Strain if you don't mind some mecha in addition to space ships. I don't have any bad memories of it, although it was ages ago, so selective memory might have erased negative factors.

Hey, so I could use some recommendations. I haven't properly watched anime since Summer 2011. So Fall 2011, Winter 2012, Spring/Summer 2012, I have no clue what's going on. Could I get some advice on shows I absolutely must watch for each season? I'd like to hear your top 3-4 for each. I'm pretty game for anything. If there were popular series I'd like to see those, and generally well-made ones too. Thanks!

edit: Fall 2011: Looking thru randomc's site, I found a few that would be interesting, not sure what people's opinions are. Mirai Nikki, Guilty Crown, Last Exile (love the original). There are others too that seem interesting.

My personal picks below. I omitted sequels (since you'll know if you want to watch more anyway) and anything you've listed already. Categories are only a rough guide. Lots of stuff cross over.

    -Kamisama Dolls: action
    -Fate/Zero: action
    -Chihayafuru: Sports, slice of life
    -Jormungand: military, comedy
-Kyoukai Senjou no Horizon: alternate history, action, comedy
-Hanasaku Iroha: slice of life, coming of age(??)
-Boku Ha Tomodachi Ga Sukinai: harem, slice of life, comedy
-Usagi Drop: slice of life, coming of age(ish?)
    -Ano Natsu de Matteru: romance
-Natsuiro Kiseki: slice of life, coming of age (not popular, but I thought it was a good watch)
-Sakamichi no Apollon: coming of age, romance
    -Another: Mystery, horror(kinda)
    -Steins;Gate: Mystery, time travel
-Thermae Romae: History, comedy (I can only remember Kraco watching this one with me)
-Moretsu Pirates: space opera, action, slice of life
-Inu x Boku SS: romance, slice of life, comedy

Simple question: Since Iīve been away for some time, what is the best, highest quality anime-series that started during the last 2-3 months? Genre doesnīt matter, as long as itīs well done. Anything worth mentioning?

MuvLuv Alternative Total Eclipse and Campione!!!

Natsuyuki Rendezvous would be the obvious choice, as well as Kokoro Connect, but I am going out on a limb and ask you to try Oda Nobuna no Yabou.

If you don't mind fanservice and mediocre art, try Hagure Yuusha no Aesthetica. The protagonist is absurdly badass.

Kyoukai Senjou no Horizon...still. Once you figure out what's going on during season 1, you get it all: Politics, intelligent debate, fanservice (both of the sexual nature and badass combat types of fanservice), and some clever plot elements. Also, it has high animation quality and a great cast.

Binbougami ga! - Best gag comedy series in a long while.

Why the heck did neither of the two of you recommend Sword Art Online?!?! :P

    Great anime, 4 episodes in.

I have no idea what Mardock Scramble is, but judging from google image search, hereīs what I recommend:

    - Ergo Proxy
    - Karas
    - Requiem for the Phantom

Obviously Baccano! if you have not yet had the chance to see it. No way you won't like at least some of the cast. Baccano has enough style to share the wealth with the rest of this list.

    Cowboy Bebop, also obviously.

Darker than Black, the first series only, again if you haven't yet seen it.

Black Lagoon, if you haven't seen it.

Gosick, but it is more about the noir and the depth, and less about the action.

Mawaru Penguin Drum, a bit light on the action, but stylistically interesting, good characters, and a deep plot that still somewhat eludes exact description.

Katanagatari, but that's not really a noir style. Every other part is covered though.

Mnemosyne, while short, but probably close to what you're looking for. No guarantee you'll like the characters though.

Witch Hunter Robin might be what you're looking for, but I can't say the cast is particularly likable.

Tegami Bachi if you can handle the constant crybaby nature of the main character (it does get to the point where you can't help but laugh at it every time). You'll likely pass on this one, but I'm still throwing it out there.

I guess there is always Noir, but that's highly overrated.

I thought about including that one, too, but itīs way different from stuff like GitS, so, no idea. It also features a non-typical artstyle, so depending on what his "quality" requirement is supposed to mean, that could be an obstacle, too.

Though, yes, if you havenīt seen Noein, absolutely watch it. One of my favorite anime.
