I thought for a bit that somehow Vegeta was going to master UI offence, and then the two of them (via Vegetto?) would beat Giren, but the gist of things seems to be that Vegeta will ditch UI all together for something else since he can't reduce his arrogance or his tendency to think during battle.
Some of that Gohan sequence had some awesome art this episode.

Yeah that was a let down.
They're both using unsustainable forms while Jiren is still less than full power. I did like Goku's traps though.

they will probably get their ass kicked and end up using fusion. only 7 mins left at this point anyway so it should last long enough
frieza still hasnt done much of anything but all he needs is to turn the last 5 mins of the tournament into like 20 episodes

Disappointed that Vegeta's new form just seems like a blue Kio-ken instead of him going Super Saiyan Blue 2.
What I'm mostly disappointed in is that they introduced Vegeta seeing through Jiren's attack as if hinting something, then just gave him a Ki power-up. Vegeta can do better than that. Maybe the manga will once again make this more meaningful.

I feel like if it was SSJB2, they would have named dropped it as such. Because marketing.
A lot of transformations were not named right away, like the original SSJ2.

Yep. Toppo is a badass alright.
That first blast of Destruction should have killed Freeza, which should have disqualified Toppo. Not sure why he threw that.
I am really wondering just how powerfull those other universes are. If they are exempt from erase just because of their power...and these guys have Jiren who is stronger than a God of Destruction and Toppo who is basically a second God of Destruction....just how powerful are the other universes?
Now I am thinking that Vegeta is going to sacrifice himself and having Toppo disqualify by letting him kill him. I mean this is Dragon Ball after all. Goku will always save the day so he and Jiren will duke it out in the end.
That or Freeza pulls a fifth form out of his ass and combines that with his Golden form.
It feels like an average, even with Jiren and Toppo, if everyone else is weak as a noodle the overall power level will go down dramatically.
Probably also a plot device for tension, since we know U10 is the weakest, then U7 can be the second weakest which makes them the underdog.

Well, there's always one other form that he's been ignoring.
But knowing Super, he'll probably just turn Platinum when he figures out Ultra Instinct.
Their Mortal Level is higher and thus are except. To date I haven't seen anything to correlate this to single combatant strength.
It could be an acumulation of culture/military/technology like in RTS games.
Or it could relate to most people's inner Ki and how well that relates to them approaching godhood.
Either way it's an arbitrary category that we know nothing about yet.

I think Jiren is about to do some clean up.
17 and Vegeta are probably about to get breezed out of the ring. At least they made a point to say Vegeta was out of energy, so you won't feel as bad when he gets casually tossed out.
Also, I don't like that Vegeta was just throwing out Final Flashes like they were Kamehamehas. He has other special attacks. The Final Flash should be more special than getting used like 4 times in 2 episodes.
