For his time, he did a lot of things right.
-Focus on nutrition and body conditioning instead of solely on techniques.
-Realising that no style is superior to another, and that one should add whatever works for him into their repertoire.
-Popularising martial arts on screen that lead to the boom of martial arts action films which were big up to the late 90s. They're still around, but are much fewer in number and lacking young blood since being an action star isn't the coolest thing around anymore.
This is even more so in Western films. That's why I was so surprised to watch Captain America: Winter Soldier. Those fights and choreography seem to only get rarer and rarer these days.
