    Maebashi Witches

    314458.jpg

"Maebashi City isn’t known for being the most lively of urban centres. The days are ordinary, the interactions typical, and as first year high schooler Akagi Yuina (Kasuga Sakura) can attest there just isn’t much to really help one stand out from the crowd. At least until a weird talking frog named Keroppe (Sugita Tomokazu) appears and offers Yuina the chance to become a Maebashi Witch. Accepting the offer, Yuina suddenly finds herself before a room closet connecting to a magical flower shop. It is in that shop where she and four other similarly scouted girls now have the chance to stand out. Through song, dance, and good old-fashioned charm, the Maebashi Witches will help see people’s lives get just that little bit better."

Another well animated Sunrise Idol show. I don't usually enjoy idol shows, but I took stock in "witches" being more prevalent. Mildly interesting and at least the girls have some negative personality traits instead of being living vessels of hope and determination. The frog is decent from design to banter, and the songs were okay. I fully expect my enjoyment to bottom out once the proud girl gets her righteous comeuppance in the next episode or two for being downright unpleasant by all measures. That would drain all remaining tension. Ending both episodes on the frog admitting these girls were trash was more humorous than I expected. Hating 'fat' people was also an eyebrow raiser- I don't know if I've ever seen an anime character hung up on that before.

there's something weird about how they look at the singing band/idol group formation. I think it's the body-to-head proportions, maybe it's too much, maybe too little, maybe it's too realistic, I'm not sure.

sig made by Itachi-y2k5, thanks, dude!
Currently Watching: probably a show directed at 9 years old girls, lets be honest.

You know the important distinction between Batman and me? Batman is fictional. In real life, there isn't always an alternative.

I thought the quasi 3d animation during the dances was okay, but I tend to gloss over during j-pop so I probably missed something.
